Need Thermostat to control cooling fans?

Here is a great one I found and have been using for last couple of years.




Keep it in sump and kicks on cooling fans as needed in both sump and up in canopy.

Completely waterproof...however need to put some silicone, duct seal, or other sealent right where temp coil enters body. Mine corroded out right at that point and had to order another.

Very reasonably priced for such a great little machine.

Looks like that thermo would be perfect to finish off my home-built chiller. Can that be mounted so the coils are IN the water, or is it measuring the air temp above the water?

 

Well it certainly is designed for coils to be out of water...and as I mentioned I did, even then have a corrosion problem...but easily preventable in future...

My sump is in an enclosed cabinet so it stays pretty much at water temp.

Now if you are really an enterprising guy, expect you could run some kind of conductor from water to coil....could not have any exposed Cu in water, but could be a ceramic covered Cu plate or something along those lines...(Silver/Gold?):

 

interesting idea....on the other hand, I should probably quit crying about how much stuff costs and just buy a chiller/controller.

Shouldn't be a problem if it hits 81-82 for short periods though right?

I did not think of as important, as I had cable from earlier order...really is special power cord so you need it...


Very cool tool...ideal for aquarium use...


(Will come wired for heater control...must open up and change wires on terminals so will work in "cooler mode. (turns on when temp reaches a certain level and off when goes down...instead of other way around).

Mine is hooked up and working Great...

(Don't forget to put little dab of Duct Seal, silicone putty, caulk, etc..where temp coil enters case. That is where my last one failed due to corrosion.)

I think you may try to use to take the risk to thermostat and see if it is effective guys...

We used liquid plastic to coat copper tubes for the cooling coils for the lobster hold tanks. Works like a charm. Also known as Tool Drip. I would coat the coil at least 2 to 3 times & let it fully harden..

Well it absolutely is advised for coils to be out of water...and as I mentioned I did, even again accept a bane problem...but calmly preventable in future...
My sump is in an amid chiffonier so it stays appealing abundant at baptize temp.
