My wife came home yesterday with a beautiful new BTA. We have been looking for the one we want for awhile , but now run into the problem of protecting it from teh powerheads in the tank.
The easiest suggestion I have read online for a Koralia powerhead is to cover it with womens hose.
I did this last night but my flow went to almost 0. It dropped enough that none of my other corals will open, so that wont work. Should I just cover the back(input side) of the pump leaveing the front open? seems like it would have danger of crawling into the front prop as the opening is much bigger than the little slits on the sides where it pulls the water.

Any other good suggestions to keep my heads fom shredding a possible wandering nem.

    Thanks for your help
    Dan

potatoe sack. if the nem is large enough then it wont be able to get through the sack.

I think any kind of a nylon mesh bag could work.

Or try the flow concentrater on the k, that has much smaller slits.

looks great, That will keep it our of the front. Is there worry about the sides and back with a Koralia. the slits are so narrow, do they pose a danger to the anemone at all, or just the front?

I would be concerned about it getting sucked in the back more than going in the front. They are invertebrates so they can sucked into the smallest slits. I would look at maybe trying a thin ring of loose foam. Vortechs come with a foam sheath for this type of thing but I'm sure you can make something similar that won't hurt your flow as much but you might have to experiment a bit to get it just right. Just make sure the foam is not super dense and is thin enough to allow a good amount of flow but has enough thickness and density so nothing can get sucked straight through it.
