so i need to move my tank a few feet to the right cuz i sold my tv (yeah!!!) and it is going to go where my tv used to be. So its a 14 gal and i was thinking of doing a water change anyway. Would it be ok to drain out most of the water except for like five gallons. And then replace most of the old water except for like three gallons, that is what i was going to change anyway?
    Any other thoughts?:-[

I moved mine from upstairs to downstairs and pretty much did what you are saying. Just make sure you get the water back in asap so that your coraline algae is not exposed to air too long or you will have some die off. You also want to do it fast so that the temp of your water doesn't change from not being heated...just a couple things. Good luck!!

    +1 on above posts

although moving a tank with rocks in etc can present a second hazard in that if they fall over, you could crack your tank

so you might want to take some of the upper level rocks out and put them in the water you are taking from the tank before you move it

the less you have in the tank, the easier it will be to move and the less your risk anything going wrong for you
