I picked up a cleaner shrimp to put in my reef tank today. Acclimated the shrimp and everything was well until I reached in to move a piece of coral. The shrimp is attempting to clean anything and everything that comes into the tank, humans included. Now s/he is waiting at the surface of the water attempting to jump on anything that comes close.

Is s/he going to jump out? Anything I should do or just let it ride out? Normal or not?

It's just being a shrimp. They don't jump.

Cool! Thanks for the replies. Didn't want to lose it the first day I purchased it.

I took that picture with my hand over the top and the shrimp was trying to get it. That's how... determined... it is.

I shoot a "few" pictures a week. I copyright anything that goes out on the web. Already spotted my work in a few places I didn't want it or didn't get paid to have released.

Sprinkle some flake food on the water, and watch him walk upside down on the surface to get it.

I'm getting rid of my shrimp soon. He's such a food-gangster, it's difficult to feed the LPS. Never saw any creature so gluttonous.

They can be pretty aggravating when trying to feed the corals as they will steal anything they can get ahold of, I try to feed them something big enough to keep them occupied for awhile before I start feeding everything else but still have to guard the corals till they are finished eating.
