If you are feeding the peppermint shrimp they will have no desire to eat any type of "pest", they are already full :)

1 looks to me like a zoanthus or a palythoa.

I get the impression people like to label things majano a little too frequently and a little too easily. it might be, but it doesn't look it to me.

    I have a few blasto's - I don't think that is what it is.

2 - to me they look like generic brown polyps even though I think they are hydroids too. I don't know why people like brown polyps... they look like pests to me... just my personal aesthetic opinion though.

Well I think half of the hydroids aren't really hydroids. The ones on the top of the rock look exactly like hydroids and in all the pics I have seen from ID websites and here, but the other half are green around their mouth. They look like some kind of polyp. The green is bright as day with the daylights on and even brighter with actinics on. The actual hydroids aren't glowing when actinics and moonlights are on they just stay brown or I have trouble finding them again. Lol so idk what that is. I also dont really like the dull brown corals I want some color in the tank haha. If they turn out to look pretty cool and stay that bright green then i guess we'll keep them.

Do the little white hydroids that stick to the glass come out of those brown hydroids on the rock? I just assumed they did

Does using the magnet across the glass kill them or just push them around?

and yes I am using gloves while in the tank.... the big red and purple gloves lol i feel like such a dork with those things on

I ended up nuking that rock, hydroids got all over it and really close to that coral and it shriveled up and dissappeared. Had hydroids in a couple other places I just put epoxy all over them and that seems to work the best lol
