How much do you want to spend and do you have a sump?

I am partial to the Aqua C line of skimmers with the innovative water injection method! Their is a wide range of prices, as well, to fit everyones budget.

Thank you. Yes, I have a 40 gal fuge. As far as price, I dont want to start from that angle because within each type of skimmer there is a range. But if I had to, I'd say $300-$400. I guess I'm just reaching out to see what folks are happy with.

I have just finished an exhausting skimmer search for my new 30 gal project.
For many months I was 100% going with a Aqua C EV-180 but at the last minute I changed over and ordered a Octopus Recirculating 110. The Octopus skimmers are similar to Euro Reef but much cheaper. The reason I changed #1 price and #2 good reviews here at 3 reef regarding quality, and performance.

In the past I have used Red Sea Prism and Catalina Aquarium (like a Coralife Superskimmer but no needle wheel) and both were very bad experiences. The prism because it was to small for my old 75 and the LFS took advantage of my ignorance and the CA was just plain a POS. Although it worked well if you kept messing with it(but it was a full time job).

I would look at MRC(Becket), Aqua C(spray injection), or Octopus/Euro Reef(needle wheel) as I have heard many good things about all these skimmers.
and these are what I narrowed my search to.

Will let you know how the Octo works out as soon as I get it as there are on back order a lot.

The AquaC skimmers are good skimmers. The best feature about them is that there are no adjustments that need to be made except the height of the collection cup. So they are basically set and forget skimmers. You dont have to worry about injectors or injector tubing getting clogged with debris or salt creep. There are better skimmers though. Euroreef and Octopus seem to be more efficient because of their needle wheel design. You can't go wrong with any of those skimmers.

I am running an Aqua C EV180 on my 120 and love it...No problems and no worries!!!! It is in your price range as well at $300.00. Then you can purchase a Mag7 to run it for $40.00!

Thank you all for your input. It is greatly appreciated. I too am intrigued by the Octo. Please let me know. Glad to hear the Aqua C is getting good reviews. Just a quick question on them: I read that they just don't produce as much skimmate as others. I THINK the 2002 EV's were designed to fix this. Agree or disagree?
