how many miles are on that thing? and you said ur getting for 1500? that is awesome man i mean worst case you could put a lil cash into some engine work to boost the mpg but that looks solid for the price as long as it doesn't have like 900k miles lol

looks great, milage is gonna suck and I would try to keep the other 1500 available for engine & drive train repairs that are likely to crop up as you turn the toy into a daily driver :p
The wife should be happy, has plenty of room if hers breaks down to accomodate not only her and the kids but all their friends too.... on second thought, be carefull, she may demand a new minivan :jester:

    LOL

You are apparently not used to looking at older American cars, are you?

That's part of the car, as it was originally when it left the factory. I believe that is a charcoal canister.

Joe, those old FSJ's ( Full Size Jeeps) are great vehicles. Being a jeep guy myself, I can tell you that if you can get that truck under 3k, that's a bargain. These are going for a LOT more than that now on the real market.

That should be a 360 cubic inch chrysler 5.9.
They were SOILID vehicles, and very capable too. They are heavy though, and add that to the 360, they suck gas. The motor is solid, and so is the drive train. IIRC it has dana 44 axles in front and back. Whatever they are, those axles and the transfer case are pretty much bullet proof. The only thing I'm not to certain of is the transmission, but all the jeep guys say those drivelines are solid. us jeep guys know when there is a driveline part not up to snuff, because we break what Chrysler ( and AMC) gave us from the factory.

I would buy that, and when you sell it for several times more than you paid for it in a couple years, then S won't have much to say about it.

You can easily pull that camry out of the ditch with that jeep too. ;)

lol. I feel stupid. Well I wasn't sure. When I went with my dad last time we got an "old" car(not really that old, a 94 aerostar. lol) the guy we bought it from had used an old aluminum can to cover part of the engine, which was covering up for a mechanical problem. My bad.

Check the undercarriage really well for rust. It's hard to imagine a car that old in Chicago without roadsalt induced rust.
