Needle Wheel, is it worth it?

Well I've been contemplating on buying a needle wheel for my SWC Xtreme 160 Skimmer. I have been eyeballing this needle wheel for the past week or so and thought I'd throw a post up to see if its really worth the cash for it? I did read some reviews and so far all of them have been positive and the users of the Red Devil seem to love it!! So 3reefers to needle wheel or not to needle wheel that is the question?

I have heard great things from the needle impelers and would thinmk it would be woth a shot. If you do decide to get them let us know how they worked for you.

 

My skimmer has a mesh wheel and it is awesome. The needle wheel is a little less efficient at making bubbles than a mesh wheel but both are far better than a standard impeller.

 

Well it's a clone of the Warner Marine Red Demon which is just wrong if you ask me.

Yes it is an improvement over stock.... about 20%... but same as PPW. So no... it is not a HUGE! improvement and it does nothing to solve backwards start issues as some may claim.

So is a 20% increase in pump performance worth the money to you?

 

I tried to first search for the WM Red Demon but could not find it available any where. I might order this needle wheel and try it out.

 

I haven't talked to Warner in a while and do not know if he sold the rights or just does not make them or what. And sorry, I just meant if it is worht it is up to you.

To answer your question I liked mine and yes it is a worth while purchase. It will be a nice bump for your 160.
