Negative reactions from PO4 reactors, carbon?

    Alkalinity tests are also normally easier to get an accurate number. My calcium test uses at least 30 drops. The Alkalinity test only uses 8 to 14 depending on what my alkalinity level is =) It is also easier for me to see the difference between flourescent green and orange than it is to tell when the purple finally turns to blue.


    I use API test kits though so your milage will vary.

    What test, other than having unwanted algae, would you check before starting a phos reactor?

    I am just saying. Its strange to set up that much and not be testing most essentials. He has been testing most stuff, but no mag, or alk. With his cal being at 640 and a semi low alk at 9. I dont know what would happen if the mag/ cal/ alk are in such wide variations. Hopefully nothing, but I am sure that most things need to be in check.
