I have added my first fish to my newly cyclyed tank. I had the water tested and the lfs said it was ok for fish now.

I have justed added a new captive raised clown fish. He has been in the tank roughly 8 hours. He is the first addition besides a couple shrimp and hermits to be added. The whole time he has been trying to get out non stop. hasnt once toured the landscape. just swiimimg back and fourth to find escape.

Turn the lights out and it should calm down. Don't feed it... not yet. tomorrow. Feeding will stress it more. It will find a spot to chill at and in the morning it should be better.

That's what clownfish do. In the wild, they rarely leave their anemones by more than a foot. In aquariums, they'll pick a place they like and stay (swimming back and forth) nearby it. They are not "roamers". It's not trying to get out of your tank.....it's stressed in completely unfamiliar surroundings so it's staying away from your rocks for a while to see if there are any dangerous critters living in them. Turn off your lights and don't stare at him close to the tank.
