    Hi All -

I just picked up my new lights. Acan 600 series - Apex ready. So now I have been reading about Apex systems. I have already decided to upgrade my powerheads. The ones that came with the tank are NIB.

Here is my deal - my tank is in the living room - the sump is in the basement. Soooooo what am I doing!!!! The more I read the more I scratch my head.

I don't have a ton of $$$ but want to do this right and find myself already selling stuff NIB that I don't want to go with - powerheads - Red Sea wavemaker - because I don't want to open it up to just sell it used. If I go with an Apex - I don't need the Wavemaker.

So - here is my question - should I go with the Apex JR - save a few bucks and just run the powerheads and lights? (thinking going with Sicce HD3200 - the MP40 is out of budget for now especially if I am doing an Apex)

I know there are benefits to the large units - overflow shut off etc - but I am talking 30 -40 of cables to run it through the crawl space to the sump.

i'm in the same boat with the $$$....i personally bit the bullet and bought the full apex instead of the junior and honestly i can say that i made the right choice because after setting it up i was thinking to myself that if i got the Jr. i would've wanted the full one. if the price difference was a few hundreds more than what it is between the 2, then i would've gone with the jr.

Thanks - I guess my big concern is about the distance to the sump to do it right. UGH..... Man this inexpensive tank I bought on CL sure is expensive!

the distance isn't an issue with the apex at all....yea tell me about it....this hobby starts off cheap with the tank and stand but no one tells you about all the other things that add up lol....your avatar shows you're in long island...i'm in queens. you're a potential future frag trader in the area lol.

From my understanding, the Sicce powerheads, if run in wave maker mode, come with their own controller. And if you run them individually, you can control them easily with the Apex outlet control. You can do that with any powerhead and apex.

yea you just plug them in and program the outlet the way you want...here's a link to their site and they have 2 guides that are really good at explaining how to program pretty much anything on the thing

Well I guess I don't need it today. I will just keep building with components that work with it. Get it up and running and go from there.
