I know I'm going to get hate on this but a seaclone is just fine for a 10 gallon tank. I wouldn't use it for anything much bigger. They have one of the most reliable pumps out there.

+1. No hate here. Agree but wouldn't recommend for anything bigger.

Had one on my 80g reef, only because it came with my system when I bought it. Quickly upgraded because it wasn't pulling its weight. Moved it to my 12g nano and it did great. Then upgraded the 12g to a prism.

Like posted. Don't go cheap. You'll buy 3 cheap skimmers and realize that you should have just bout 1 good one. Fme

For the 55, if you have a sump, an Eshopps PSK-100 will work great. If you don't, go with the hang-on-back PSK-100H.

For a 55 with a sump, best bang for the $ is probably the SC65. An Ebay skimmer-
SC stands for southern continent- ?
Anyways, I'm running the SC150 (I think/heard they changed the model #) and it works awesome on my 125Reef- waas $95 shipped to my door- new.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with a skimmer for the 10g. A tablespoon of GAC and a gallon of water is a lot cheaper and plenty easy enough to change, and something you'll most likely end up doing as well, anyway. I might would use one on the 55, all depending on what I plan to keep, but I generally prefer to keep the bioload on the low side.

GAC is Granular Activated Carbon. It absorbs the same organics that a skimmer removes, as well as inorganic contaminants that the skimmer can't.
