Ok so as a reefer I noticed this new product pop up a few months back with a viral video campain. Its this spray stuff that is 'safe' and can waterproof ANYTHING. Think about it, no more saltcreep in hard to clean areas, no more corosion of metals in the tight areas of a sump. Is apparently a high level of wizardry.

In addition to be Ninja-tastic is readily available everywhere thanks to Rustolium:

I was just reading around the forums (Thanks 4:30am heartburn...) and saw someone inquire about using it in the neck of a skimmer! How ideal is that? nothing begins to break down skimmer performance quicker than a dirty neck, and honestly, there are a minority of reefers that clean that little guy every other day.

SO here is my plan, I'm calling Jeremy at CoralVue for an extra cup for my SRO-2000xp and I'll try this out. Perhaps $20 bucks can outperform a $200 neck cleaning machine?

If it can't even get wet (hydrophobic), it's unlikely it's going to dissolve into our water. There are other ways it could cause problems, but that eliminates a biggie.

So it works like this <CHEMISTRY> and seems to dry relatively safe. It does wear down over time, though this application should last alot longer than say proofing gloves, shoes, or other high use movable parts.

I do want a spare cup for the experiment and as it breaks down I would assume the compound will end up in the cup.

A couple benefits I see right away would be less foam head collapse, which old reefers can appreciate. I glare at my shimmer every single time its not bubbling over.... but it doesn't help. This is especially important in oversized skimmers like the SRO-3000 on my new 125g. I will be using it on a SRO-2000xp skimmer on my older fully stocked 125g running Eco-Bak as a test.

I've read that it does not dry clear, that it dries into a forsted white. Do you think this will be a problem not being able to see through the top of the skimmer cup?
