hey eveyone im starting a new 150 gallon build my question is im thining about drilling the tank. But i cant seem to make up my mind on where drill the top or build a internal overflow and drill under the tank. Its a 150 gallon glass tank. im not a big fan a overflow box since im limited on space

You should be fine drilling the way you mentioned. I have a cornerflo setup and they work great... I never tried it the way you are doing it but I've seen many people that have done it. I never heard of a downside.... so happy drillling! :)

Be sure to check if the glass on the bottom is tempered before drilling.

If you're going to drill the back of the tank, you should drill 3 more holes and have those 2 be your returns and set up a cost2coast overflow system. The box you need is minimal and at the top of the tank, rather than all the way down to the bottom of the tank. I would highly recommend an overflow box or the top of your water will develop a biofilm.

this is a good build thread of someone who did it the way i'm describing with a minimal overflow box, see page 10 for a buttload of pictures on plumbing and page 19 for a video of it in action. I would highly recommend an overflow box though, or I think you'll start to see a lot of biofilm build up on the water surface.
