While staring blankly at my tank a few days ago, I suddenly realized an easy way to get my 29er under the stand.

    1) We're moving to Delray Beach on May 16th, so the tank is coming down. My buddy who runs Florida Keys Marine Specimens is coming over to properly bag everything up (heat seal and oxygenate).

    2) Since turning the sump horizontal once under the stand was my problem before, if I jigsaw out a small rectangle from the top, then I should be able to lower it into place.

    3) I'll try a clarify a bit. My sump is roughly 30.5Lx12.5Wx18.5T and 35.5 inches diagonally. Stand is about 32 inches tall from it's inside base to the top where the DT sits.

    4) So if I cut out a 13x6 inch rectangle about a third of the way from one end of the top section of the stand, it will allow a corner of the sump to rise up to form a small triangle while I slide opposite corner of the sump out. This shouldn't weaken the stand enough to matter.

    5) Now the sump has completed a 90 degree turn, and should be sitting in place.

This sump/fuge is gonna be old skool. Sock and skimmer on far left, rubble/cheato fuge center, return last. 250 gph is my goal for the sump, while my pair Koralia 3's will keep the DT's turnover quite high. I'm thinking about using a HOB CPR or HOB Reef Octopus on the outside of the 1st compartment.

I ordered the baffles from a local glass shop, along with a piece of 6x16 inch 3/8's tempered glass that will patch the holes where the stock overflow currently sits.

Don't miss the Gl*******s box on the sump.

Good or bad, I'll photograph the whole process.... stay tuned.

Works great! No bubble traps because the water sheets real nice down these glass baffles.

Ouch on the tank size mistake, but the real pressing question is what are you gonna do with that Baileys?

I had a bunch of LR rubble and some base rock in my new sump, but the circulation wasn't good enough and I was starting to get cyano in my DT. So I removed all but a single layer of rubble in the filter sock compartment, and added 20lbs of kitty litter to the fuge chamber. It's about 8 inches deep, and I hope maybe it will eventually settle to around 6 inches.

Let me know what you think..

Removed the filter sock completely, went back to a 27w 5500k CFL, put the LR rubble and a Maxi Jet 400 in the drain section. The clay DSB and chaeto are working great, I removed about a plastic grocery bag worth of chaeto this morning.

    Almost Maintenance Free!
