I want to buy a tablet. I am stuck between the new Ipad and the Asus Transformer Infinity.

You can find the specs in the following link:
The new iPad vs. the tablet elite: ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity 700, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and Toshiba Excite X10 LE -- Engadget

I love the way the retina screen looks, but it really isn't needed on a tablet and the Infinity's resolution is just under the new Ipad's. The new Ipad is dual core with 4 core graphics, while the Infinity is quad core with 12 core graphics. Apple store has more apps than Google Play. IOS and Ipad is very closed while the Android and Infinity are open. More useable ports on the Infinity than the Ipad, unless i wish to buy adapters. The Ipad is coming out on the 16th while the Infinity is looking like June. Unless you snag an Ipad on release day, expect to wait until the summer to get your hands on one at a retail store. Making waiting for the Infinity an extra few months no big deal.

    Which would you go with?

P.S. "Go with the Ipad because its from Apple" is not a useful response.

LMAO, I didn't think I would need to add that to the useless answer list.

If the new Ipad was quad core, I would buy it hands down, but I feel the new Ipad just had upgrades the Ipad 2 should have had.

Thats how Mac keeps you going and buying their products! Haha, and Im one of those people ... own a macbook pro, an imac 27", an ipad 2, and an iphone 4. Honestly you cant beat the product quality that apple puts out ... never had a problem with any of my stuff8)

It annoys me how Apple is constantly releasing new products so you go back and buy more and more.

I own an ipad, but it's the first one and I refuse to give them more money. So I'm stuck in the dark ages! haha

Other than that, I am no help at all because I don't know much about technology :)

Honestly buy the iPad. It may not have as boastful specs as other tablets out there, but you pay for several things that make the decision easier.

1.) Any tablet is only as good as the apps that run on it, everyone has the same integrated crap, but the developers are what make them great. iOS is far superior in every regards to development quality than any other tablet out there. It may be a walled garden, but its a darn good garden to be in.

2.) Apple store experience in case something ever goes wrong. You actually have a warranty, and customer service, unlike 99.9999% of other manufactures, you are going to have a smooth seamless experience that is unmatched.

3.) Tablet performance. Even without the boastful specs, the iPad runs smoother, and has a much better feeling responsive display. It's just like saying any droid = an iPhone. Maybe in specs, but the displays all feel unresponsive and sluggish... Something that almost every quality tech research blog has made note of.

4.) Resale value. At some point, it will be dated and you'll want to replace it with something else. Apple or not. This leaves you with a lot more cash in your pocket when your ready to move on, as these devices hold way more value than the rest of the tablet market.

5.) You will enjoy the user experience more, over a longer period of time. IMO when any device has even small irritating problems (screen responsiveness for example) over time, they degrade the quality of the experience. The iPad feels like its working great, even when the technology driving it is dated.

Just my reasoning... I've had 2 iPads now and several other Android based tablets to fool around with along the way, so I am definitely coming from both sides of this. :)

Thank you for the points of view. I'll throw those into the pro-con chart in my mind.

Incorrect, the new ipad is dual core with quad core graphics. A lot of people got confused with that.
