I'm going to wait for the tear down of the new ipad and see how much ram it has. That is a lot of pixels and if they didn't upgrade the ram then it will perform poorly.

Part of my does want to leave work early to snag the new ipad though. If they upgraded the ram i'll go with the ipad. You made a good point about the applications and there are a lot more I would use on a tablet for ipad than android.

EDIT: I just found the tear down on ifixit. Looks like 1 gig of ram. New Ipad here I come.

I feel the Apple touch screen is second to none, Everytime i go fro using my htc evo to an iphone or ipod touch, i immediately notice how much better the touchscreen is in every way, much more responsive and sensitive.. that alone would make me get the ipad

I think your experience has more to do with the way iOS handles rendering compared to Android, and the fact that the original evo is, quite frankly, pretty old (don't get me wrong, it's an awesome phone and I still love it - it's just been retired to use as my media center remote). At this point anything iOS feels much smoother than an evo, I'll give you that, but if you get down to the nitty-gritty of it your comparing apples to oranges. Admittedly, I haven't used anything newer than an iPhone 4, so my opinions and views could be outdated. However, I still believe that if you use an Android phone with a decent dual-core (or better yet quad-core - I can't wait for the HTC one series!) processor you won't notice as much of a difference (sgs2, rezound, evo 3d - on a custom rom, mind you, stock SUCKS - all come to mind).

All in all, I'm not to excited about the new iPad. Apple makes great products, but they're a bit overpriced and far too restricted for my taste.

Anyway, back to the original point of this thread... In my opinion, if you're less of a power user, don't care about customization and just want something to work as intended out-of-the-box (not that anything powered by Android doesn't, unless the manufacturer sucks) go with the iPad.

If you like to have fun (well, my idea of fun, anyway) with your devices, go with the transformer. Ability to cook up my own roms? Yes, please. Overclock my device? I'll take it. (Damn near) infinite customization? Thank you, jesus.

In summation, I love my transformer and can't see myself swaying from future Android devices any time soon. However, I'll be the first to admit - if Apple allowed just half the rights I have over Android, I'd drop my transformer in a heartbeat.

I'm on the new iPad now. So far so good but I'm not exactly a techy.

    How anti-smudge is the glass?

I have only been using it for about 30 minutes but it seems to be pretty smudge free. In all honesty, this is my first tablet so I don't have a lot to compare it to. However, now that you bring it up and I try to smudge, it seems to be better in this area than my iPhone if that means anything.
