I use a 3600 GPH pump on my 240. you might want to go slightly bigger. I have only used it during my water test but it had plenty of flow. I have my intake for the CL drilled about 5 to 6 inches below the water line on the back wall with a strainer. It won't suck up sand from there unless it is a sand storm in the tank.

If you have not seen my build thread looking at the plumbing pics might give you an idea. http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-off-your-fish-tanks/vegasfish-240-gallon-build-60681.html

Click on the User CP in the top left of the page. Then select new private message. Type Tangster into the TO area and it will get to him. He is a very good guy.

If you run a manifold like Tangster, Otty, and me have then use the 7500 from the sump to the manifold. That way you send it to you return lines, power up the skimmer and whatever else needs some water flow!

As far as the 1200's I am not sure the will give you enough flow even if you run to seperate closed loop setups. But keep in mind this was my first closed loop setup so I am just as new at it as you. I am sure someone else will read this soon and chime in!

The input is 2" and you cap the top. Then the out puts are on ball valves to regulate the flow. Trust me my 6000 Gph pump is making more than enough pressure to push it good so your dolphin will do a good job.
