and has a 200 watt heater. is the filteration ok in this tank for marine fish?
it seems like a good filter.it states it has a capacity of ca. 600 litres per hour

also what powerhead shall i buy? 1 or 2?
and what protien skimmer shall i get for this tank?

apart from all the essentails does this sound like a good setup?

i will not be using a sump.

Hrm, the big question is, if no sump, where will the skimmer hang? That hood looks like it's flush with the tank. 200w heater should be fine for under 50 gallons. I'd suggest something in the Koralia 3 (two of them) or something with similar flow to go along with the filter's water flow.

I'm a bit weary of the filter as it seems like it's geared way more towards freshwater.

are you every going to upgrade to a reef tank with it down the road?

if maybe or yes, you'll want at least a wet/dry or sump/refugium setup..

if no, at least get a wet/dry with a protein skimmer that sits inside wet/dry box..

    something like this:

Eh, that's debatable. My 29g right now has just a canister filter and a skimmer, both HOB units. It can be done, but it is a bit more work.

well at least with a wet/dry you can convert it down the road.. less crap hanging on the back of tank and more water volume is a plus for me.. but either way is ok to do.. how many days a week do you have to clean that canister filter out?

True, it's all about working with what you got. I would have had a sump on this 29g, but it fit so well on top of a nice liquor cabinet. Besides, I like being a Mr Knowitall when it comes to a HOB tank's capabilities :D

The 80g on the other hand......muahaha, that's got a beastly sump

    Oceanic 29 Biocube Mod Instructions

I am planning on getting the Oceanic 29G biocube today and wanted to add my Aqua C Remora Pro and was wondering if you can share some light to the modification process you did on yours to hang the protein skimmer?

    Thanks a bunch.
