I found a great deal on Craigslist over the weekend. A 55 gallon tank with 80 pounds or so of live rock, 80 pounds sand/crushed coral. I ended up cleaning the sand and putting back in tank. Drilled tank with overflow and filter. 4 toatal power heads for current, 2 heaters, Sea life skimmer and pump. Plus a bunch more for $300. Also came with a Domino and Blue damsel hermits, snails and a bristle starfish. They are still in this tank because I am expecting a cycle. I did not want to mix these guys in with my other tank.

I tried to say no but yes kept coming out of my mouth. Here are some pics.

Hi Tony, nice looking set up. From your profile it seems you have been at this awhile so I'm sure you have the where-with-all to be successful with the larger tank. keep us apprised.

Wow. Nice Deal. I'm always checkin CL for stuff and have found awesome deals on stuff 2. Only thing I would do is re-aquascape and eventually lose that domino (mean fish) JMO. Looks good though. Are you gonna go reef or FOWLR?

Not really at it a long time about 4 months. Right now I am keeping an eye on the water parameters and watching fish for signs of stress. Everyone in the 34 gallon looks fine. i had to move it this weekend to make room for the 55. only moved it about 15 feet but still had to remove the rock and drain down the water. Blue damsel has a white "mark" on his side. When my Chromis get this mark they are dead in 2 days. We will see.

Anything else I should be watching for?

Rocks will be redone this weekend. My wife will see to that.

Yes the domino will only be around till I can safely move fish from the other tank and it will be see ya later. I will try to find him a home. He is quite mean.

Will be a reef tank in the long run. I only have 4 corals in my 34 right now and the $300 was my budget through December for livestock. I will not be doing much untill then.

Looking forward to January to start adding the corals but for now it is wait until water is all good. Then Move the fish from the 34 to the 55 along with corals. I will do it over time as not to mess with water params.

That was a pretty sweet deal you got. I'm just curious how everything is going to get along with that rather large octopus you got there :), it looks pretty fierce.

the octopus is very well trained. When I tell him to stay he does. Has not moved in quite some time. Just have to dust him once in a while. ;D

You could always sell the other tank after the tranfer and have some money to put in the 55 ;D Before January. Anyway, its Columbus Day, you deserve a present rite. I cant help but make excuses to get stuff lol :p

Thanks for the idea on the 34 and I did consider it but I'm going to keep it for now. it is small and so far easy to maintain. I am going to keep the 34 up and running as a QT tank for right now. I want to make sure I can do this as when adding new livestock I do not want probs in the 55. As things progress I will have some money in it and would rather be safe then sorry.
