honestly I like my sump but if i had to do it over again i would split the fuge and have return in the middle with the fuge and protein skimmer @ opposite ends.

    tanks coming along great thanks.

Our black and white clown has adjusted good just taking a while to host with the anemone in their tank. probably will be a some time.

I have sump with the same flow, return/skimmer, future fuge, and return section. I don't have any filter material on the intake. Did I see you have filter material between 2 baffles? I tries that but it backed up my intake section water level. Maybe I need a finer material. I am also considering going with no mechanical filter other than the Skimmer.

Yea I had filter media but decided to remove all filter media. It was a cause of high nitrates for me. but the reason why i would like to redesign is i changed my pluming to limit flow through the refugium but i saw a new design and was told it is good for the water and extra waste to deposit directly into the deep sand bed instead of going into where my protein skimmer is. I also removed it because i seeded my fuge with cope pods and didn't want them to get caught in the filter media.

the previous owner of this tank was running the skimmer in the middle of the sump and had a filter pad where the intake is. I haven't used one in the month I have had it set-up and don't really know if it would make difference to add it. It seems like it will trap everything until I change it and I don't want to constantly be changing/cleaning it. I need to get my Fuge did you just use sand or "Mud"?

I used sand. it worked good. there are some benifits to using mud but i like the sand. I use the fuji pink brand.

Holy crap! Your skimmer seems to be pulling some serious gunk out of your tank.
