Well I have my 65g with a 36inch t5ho sundial over it and my corals are doing great. Now my question is on my 75g its 48inch long and not 36, I was looking at just putting acrylic on the ends to make it fit and still provide the lighting. Do I need to upgrade to a 48 or is a 36 ok for the tank. Its goign to mainly be a softie tank prolly no hard corals at all. I will get a clam in it but it will be in the middle of the tank were the lights the strongest.

Let me know your opinions, just dont want to spend another 300-400 if I dont have to and since im not gonna be running a hard coral reef.

Should be fine with what you are wanting to do. I have seen tanks with 2 x 2 boards across them with the lights mounted on them for support. Use what you feel is pleasing to look at and use something stable so it dont fall in the tank.

It should work fine. If you raise it up a little the light will spread to cover the larger footprint no problem.

I would honestly be concerned about a clam in a 75g with 4x39w... Make sure it is DEFINETLY not on the sandbed...

    2000th post, yeah

woot to the 2000th, ya im really looking at doing a 8 bulb retrofit when I get some more money. If I get a clam it will be middle tank up high. Im thinking of setting up a frag tank if I can talk the wife into and utilize the t5ho I have now. But I wanted to see if the 4bulb will do for about 6 months till I can save up 400 bucks for the retrofit.

6 months will be fine.. But I would definetly look into getting the 4'ers as soon as you can.

What brand are you looking into?
