No problem! I'm not an expert by any stretch just have done a lot of research recently. It all depends on what you want to keep in the tank.

What were your plans for stocking it? You can then go from there. I'm planning on SPS and clams on the bottom so I'll probably go a bit over kill and go with the 48 ultra rapid led kit and 12 additional LEDs so I feel safe with SPS and clams on the sand bed. I know I'll probably have to dim them quite a bit but I'd rather dim than rip it apart and redo it :)

    Forum :

After reading through the lighting section and most of all the stickies I'm leaning to wards the T5 4x 8x given that LED's are not yet up to par with aquatic needs and much less with my pocket book...LOL

What is everyone using in a 48" with built in timer for around $350.00 - $400.00

Once again Thanks for the feedback

Aquaticlife is the only one off the top of my head that meets the timer requirement. You will most likely want a 6 bulb unit if you are looking for clams (crocea and maxima) and SPS on the sand. Otherwise a 4 bulb unit will work for a mixed reef.
