Sorry you had to deal with this but a great job bouncing back. I just read the whole thing and learned a couple of things.

I'm fairly new to this but I was wondering what your water parameters looked like leading up to the crash and immediately after it? Does this sort of thing happen from one day to the next or are there indicators leading up to it in the numbers?

The tank looks great once again! Good luck.

Thanks, my parameters were the same before and after, except that from the inverts dying afterward my Nitrites were detectable.

I try to keep my tank at 75-78 degrees all year, I use a 1/3 hp chiller to keep the temps in check in the summer. My pH sometimes will dip below 8.0 in the winter, so if we have extremely cool temps, I will set my Kalk reactor up for the week to add limewater with my top off. As for the other parameters, I keep them pretty balanced, because as long as they stay balanced, it's easy for me to keep it that way. 420 CA, 8.0 dkh, 1350 Mg I have very low PO4's just below .03, my Nitrates are always 0.

My tank parameters were solid, I now believe it was definitely the spraying my neighbor did, I always keep a line that runs to my skimmer to the outside, and that would have easily introduced the chemicals into the tank. Even after I let the tank sit for a couple of months, it never was the same. Only after I removed everything, and gave it a thorough vinegar/muratic acid bath, did my tank act like normal. I basically dumped all my rock from the tank, and started out with new live rock.

It's ok, I still have some of the corals from before, they are just in a different state...lol...

N/P Rick, I've come to the conclusion that this hobby is a series of ups and downs, and you just hope you learn when it's down, and recover.
So in the last month I've really stocked this tank with some acros. I have also held off on purchasing anymore fish, I'd like to toss in a few more flame wrasses, but won't until the summer.

Started to move my SSC colony up on the rocks, I'm going to break it up into 3 pieces, keeping one in higher light, and the other in lower, the third, will be distributed to locals.

This coral is an acropora spathulata which is coloring up nicely, looking nice under the reefbrites.

LOL, the cops laughed, I mean there are laws against using pneumatic tools after midnight...lol...All I had to do was point to where the ladders were, and the cops took care of the rest. When I got called out on it, I told him to not take so much time getting a deal...especially during the rainy season..lol

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The acropora spathulata looks like a wonderful piece. Is it aquacultured or a wild piece ?

Love the pink coloration to the other piece.

Yes its a wild piece from Australia, it's aka the thick branched mille...they are tough to keep though. For now, I can gauge my tank, by the way it is coloring up. The other one is the strawberry shortcake...it has the yellow on the base, it's still coloring up from shipping.

Here is a better pic of the SSC

This week is going to be exceptional, with new corals, and apogee par sensor, hanna alk checker etc.. Look at this beauty, it's wysiwyg but the frag has grown since being fragged, and pic taken...

Ok, this week I am expecting some goodies both live and not so live. The first two items arrived today, the Hanna Alk checker, and the Apogee sensor. I haven't even opened up the box for the alk checker, but I was eager to get the PAR numbers for my light.

I basically bought the sensor, and soldered the wires directly to some test leads I had extra. Of course I used shrink wrap to protect the connection. All you do is measure for m/A and take the number and multiply by 5. The tank picture is as it was lit during the test. I was basically trying to find out the numbers where some of my acros are mounted.

2x400W Back bulb is a Reeflux 12K, and in front of it is a XM 20K, I have one reefbrite mounted on the pendant, and it's a blue bulb.
[IMG] The high numbers sure drop once that sensor hits the water. All pumps were shut off, since surface agitation will lead to higher results.

Here is my Multimeter and sensor, connected to the end of my algae scraper.
