    Hey Guys,

They aren't all that difficult to keep. I kept several different ones, and the only real problems I had resulted from putting two of the same species in the same tank (I wouldn't recommend that unless you have already seen them getting along in one tank). Mine pretty much only ate crabs, although they might eat a shrimp or piece of fish if they got really hungry. By they way, they are strong enough to push even a weighted lid off an aquarium, so use caution. The guys at Hopkins Marine Station/Monterey Bay Aquarium recommended a strip of astroturf at the top of the tank to keep them from crawling out, and it worked, at least until the second octopus got put in the tank with the first one. I saw quickly that it's just a matter of the octopus not LIKING to climb or crawl across astroturf, not lack of ability to do so. The main drawback to keeping them is that they grow fast and don't live very long.

    Cheers,

    Don

I really hope that you have a separate tank for the octopus, or you will start to see things disappearing real soon. Trust me, I made that mistake a couple of yrs ago. I've been dieing to set up an octopus tank for a while now.

SWEET!........My buddy had one way back in the day. Damn thing was so smart, he would put a gold fish inside of a glass jar, put the lid on not very tight of course and it figured out how to open it for the prize!.....Good luck with it, very cool indeed!
