    we picked this little guy up yesterday for $30 not sure what family it is if someone could enlighten me it would be appreciated. Also any kind of special care?

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Looks to be a Squamosa clam.

    It will need to be moved away from the Tube Anemone.

    Place in the sand bed if lighting is sufficient and up right not lying on it's side.

    You will need to maintain the Big 3 to meets it's needs.

    I know we all make impulse purchases but in all honesty "and not to be rude" but you really should know about an animals requirements before you purchase it...

    Aside from moving it away from that tube anemone which WILL kill it, just make sure you keep you Ca,Alk,Mag and Ph up and make sure that your water quality stays in good condition with regular H2o changes and you should be ok, They are one of the easier clams to keep and at that size isnt nearly as tough as the 1" babies you sometimes see for sale
