There is a specific sand sifting star that is great. Iv had one for 6 months and it doesnt bother anything. Rarely even gets on the rocks.

I beleive the only name for it is sand sifting star. I just threw mine in and let it go at it. I rarely see it. I do notice my sand stays cleaner deeper than crabs will get.

I wouldn't put any sand sifting star in a new tank. THey will quickly eat out the young clean sand and starve unless you spot feed. I'd wait until tank is older.

Also, they're not recommended for anything smaller than 55gallon tank.

I agree, it could take the snails a couple of days.

No guarantees and them misleading you into a sale are 2 different things. one is fine the other is predatory and probably against the law. I would make a huge stink. And then start shopping on the internet.

I highly recommend this place for CuC: ReefCleaners.org | Clean Up Crews and Macro Algae - Home HIGHLY recommend.

NO sand sifting star they will die within a few months. I have a purple serpent star for 2 years now. Great detritus eater and very hardy but my tank was alrady 1 year old when I got it. You might be ok with one of them. They say the Green Brittles are mean.

The thing is this. We all make mistakes with purchases. There are certain fish and inverts that the LFS does not take back. They generally do not take returns on Anenome's and certain inverts. If you deal with a local store enough they will give you leeway on mistakes. You should always do research on any new fish, invert or coral. If you come back and it's gone so be it, there will always be another one on the horizon. Good luck!

So explain why exactly you need something to shift your sand? Is the sand bugging you?
