    Hi All,

I'm really excited because I just got back from the fish store with two new babies! I got a red head pseudo and a royal gramma. I chatted for a long time with the owner and he recommended both these fish to me, but I have never heard of the red head pseudo. I've been looking online and I can't find any information about it! Do any of you know anything about these fish? The owner at the shop told me a bit, but I like to read a lot about what I have in my tank.

Also, my springer's damsel is being kind of a pain in the butt to the new royal gramma. Should that calm down after a couple days or so?

    Thanks!

Damsels are really aggressive, you should see if you could get rid of it before it harms the royal gramma. I've tried letting things settle when one fish is aggressive to another, most of the time it doesn't end well for the new guy.

I'm worried I'll have to bring him back to my local fish store. But I'm attached to him...so we'll see how it goes!

Damsel's are a rude fish. I have one that will do the toilet funnel if I ever catch it.

It is going to be hard to catch that damsel, I guess you'll just have to wait and see if it's going to have to be a problem. Also, I had never heard of a red head pseudo...

Well now the damsel seems to be fine and it's the clown that's nipping the royal gramma's fins. The damsel even gave up his territory to the gramma. I didn't see that one coming. The supposedly peaceful gramma is now being pretty testy defending his new territory. Hmmm...the drama of the fish world!

Here's the best pic of the pseudo I could get. He is really small and likes to swim and play in the rocks, so it was hard!

Okay, just in case anyone is wondering, I have done some serious digging and found some info on my red head pseudo. It's also called a Red Head Elegant Pseudochromis Dottyback, Elongate Dottyback, and Elegant Dottyback. They are much less aggressive than other dottybacks, stay small, are very hardy and are not reef safe. They are also quite rare, so that makes it fun to have one!! Plus, they are super cute! :)

That would make that the first dottyback that I have seen that is not reef safe.

As far as royal grammas go, they typically are very territorial of their little area of the tank.

Most psuedochromis are iffy around shrimps. That is a great looking fish. Nice find. I would keep it and just watch it. You may get lucky and it wont touch anything.

Several things I read said they are not reef safe, but one article I read said they are. So who knows?! But luckily for me I don't have to worry about it!
