I just received a bubble anemone yesterday and he immediately attached to a rock. However, he seems to move away from the light which seems strange. Is this normal behavior for the first couple of days?

    Thanks!

it most likely is. its in a different enviroment now, so its adjusting to your tank. and you may find it still will move around til it finds its own sweet spot. but do keep an eye on it.

In my experience..when you first put them in a tank they'll cruise around for a little bit..The two I have had wedged themselves in a hole on the back of the rocks for the first day then came out to the light. They're going to do what they want..just let them do their thing. See what happens over the next couple of days.

They will put themselves in a rock crevice so they can hide. And then that spot also needs good light and good flow.

Mine hangs upside down under a rock and stretchs around to the light when she wants to. I have never touched or tried to move it since it found it's spot. Always best to leave them do their own thing.

Every anemone I've had has ran away from the light at first. Give it some time and it should pick a spot where it can get enough light to thrive. One of my nems did not ever seem to understand the lighting. It would move into the light during the day, but then at night it would move away to a spot where it must of had better flow. Morning would come and it would have to start its trek all over again. To train it, I left the lights on for about 24 hours. After that, it seemed to get a clear sense of where the light would be in the morning and stayed put.

Thank you for all the great advice, K+! The Anemone stopped moving around last night and seems to have found its happy spot. My Maroon Clown has also now found his happy spot right in the middle of it. I use to put my hand in the tank all the time with my Maroon not having a care in the world. Now when I put my hand in the Maroon is nipping at me (defensive little sucker) :)
