I guess it's unavoidable, I'm going to buy a larger tank, even though getting back into the hobby I was planning to stick to what I had and just enjoy it that way. Now I have a 20 g acrylic tank flax back hexagon, with matching black acrylic stand and canopy that I've bought many years ago thus can't remember the brand but suspect it's "clear for life", cause they've got similar stuff. I really like my current tank, with its back overflow and all, just need it bigger. I'd like to get a 45-50g acrylic tank (with stand, canopy, overflow). Could anyone recommend a brand or web site that they've used? I've checked the sponsors here, didn't see anything. Web research shows "clear for life", but that's pretty much it, that matches my parameters.

    Thanks to all in advance!

Can your LFS not help you out. Maybe a local fish club?

    What is your price range?

I bought a 65g corner pentagonal tank from Tenecor that turned out very nicely. Unfortunately I never used it and it sits in my storage room with the paper still on it. But I liked it enough that I ordered my dual 175s from them.

I read recently that Tenecor is no longer in business. FYI

Thanks everyone! I ordered an acrylic tank from AquariumsDirect.com (thanks to a few good reviews here), stand from Dr. Foster and Smith and canopy from Amazon (Petstore). Everything is on the way (yippie!!) except for the canopy, hopefully soon. Will post my opinion once I get everything here, up and running!

My new tank!!! Good algae question.

Everthing has arrived is set up and looks even better that I imagined! Check out my pictures. I think the fishes are happy, as far as I can tell. I've had it running for about a month now. Didn't really see any spikes in Nitrates but suspect my test strips might not be accurate, so I've ordered "advanced" test kits by Salifert (thanks to this forum's reviews), we'll see once that arrives.
Now I haven't had any algae in my old tank ever since I've added 2 emerald crabs and I'd like to get some as a treat for my Coral Beauty and Blennie. Who knows, maybe the clown will enjoy it as well. I see Chaetomorpha is well reviewed and here are my questions:
    - can I add it in the overflow compartment instead of (or on top of) filter pad? There is not much light there, should I add some
    - if I don't have light over it 24/7, will it end up reproducing and creating a big head-ache (I'm not an expert!)
    - my only problem in the old tank has been low pH and Alkalinity (which could be due to inaccurate test strips) but also the Red Legged crabs don't live very long in my tanks - would algae help with this?
    - what are the best algae you've had experience with (in terms of ease of care and fish happiness)?

I know I'm asking a lot and thanks a bunch for any input!!!

you will definitely need light over any macroalgae. Chaeto is a good algae for lowering nitrates and phosphates but not the best for fish food. Mine will eat it eventually but is definitely not their favorite. I would probably wait for the new test kits before adding anything.

thanks, SAY! I'll try to wait for the test then, should be here any day now. WHat about Red Bush Algae, Gracilaria and Pink Galaxy? They look pretty and yummi (based on the description that is)
