I've been contemplating the addition of a small blue tang to my tank for awhile now. In preparation for its arrival I let my po4 climb a little and grew a healthy algae crop on a few select pieces of rock and didn't clean the outside of the corner overflow for months.
Did 20% water changes daily for a week and added her 3 days ago.
Within 2 hrs of a lights out acclimatisation the little girl was feeding like there was no tomorrow and 2 days later she is boss of the tank ;D
Never had a tang react like this, especially a small one.
She eats EVERYTHING! Nori, brine shrimp, flake, small pieces of prawn, grazes all day, and even loves bloodworms.
Always been my favourite fish but in 25 years never had one make itself at home so readily :cheesy:

my yellow belly is a shark as well, got him when he was no bigger than 4 or 5 cm (sooooooo cute) and only later he developed his yellow belly. as they grow, and they grow really quickly the first few stages they will become more and more aggressive. when i hand feed nori to my fish i have to gently push him away with my fingers or he doesn't give others a chance to eat. this doesn't stop him long though and he comes back charging.

what size tank do you have? mine is in a 120 and its far from ideal.

provide with as much of a varied diet as you can a tip for all fish in fact.

oh and for the record iv heard mine make a deep "brooop" sound sometimes when i scotch my fact to the aquarium and he comes looking at me straight in the eye.

he swims backwards along the glass then darts forward and its at that moment you hear the strange sound he makes, probably a sign of agression. anyone else ever witness this?
