    i would like to say a big hello to everyone on the site and let you know who i am here we go!!i have been doing tropical fish for 15 years so im not to bad at that but i have always wanted a reef set up but never had the nerve to start but then i saw a reef set up on ebay and thought give it a go i went and picked it up yesterday and then spent 12 hours setting it up !finished at 6 in morning .the set up included redsea skimmer two power heads rena filter external and 2x tomato clowns and 1x blemmey all live rock and inverts as well so a very happy boy.indeed!!but i know the hard part is keeping it all alive so i went out and bought a book saltwater aquariums for dummies its a good book indeed .But i thought that i would join this web site for the knowledge that you guys/girls have so i can pick your brains when i need to so i will say sorry now if you see my name alot in the forum i will try not to sak silly questions but as you all know we all have to start somewhere . i will say thanks know for all replys i get on marine and if i can help with the tropical side i will many thanks aaron;)

    The only dumb question is the one left unasked. We all have started out not knowing much, so don't feel bad about asking anything. How big of a tank did you get? Because you bought an already established tank, im assuming that's what you did, you are going to need to hit the ground running. Test water parameteres, if you don't have test kits buy some. if you want corals you will need a good light, here, the general consensus is T5 or metal halide. Read as much as you can and if something goes wrong, ask. Good luck in your new endeavor

    sorry the tank is a 4ft rena and yes is was a established tank so far so good just had to add some calcium powder but all other test good

    Ah, that brings back memories... Welcome to 3reef.
    If you haven't heard it already, don't be tempted into using tap water. Also resist the very powerful urge to make spur of the moment livestock purchaces. A bit of advance reading about any planned purchase is sure to save you some $$$ and heartache. Have you got a QT tank yet? one of your old FW sets should do fine. Just don't use it to QT corals if you ever used copper in it.
