That is how it is for me. The routine stuff is much easier. I had to take apart connections to clean the nozzle and air valve. I have plenty of room, so I don't see it being a big deal. Personally I kind of like having the pump internal just cause it frees up space. We will see what I say after I clean it. 6 or half dozen of the other.

 

I too rather have the convenience of the routine cleaning and dependablility along with the amazing performance of a bubble king rather than a skimmer with easier pump cleaning. I havent had a skimmer that was fun to pull out of the sump slop water on the floor/stand and clean no matter how easy it was. Usually there were parts i couldnt clean as well as i could with a bubble king cause it was build around convience not performance.

 

I don't understand this comment. BK is built around Performance 100% easy of cleaning the collection cup is just good design

I think he is praising the BK, not knocking it.

I also had to take apart my BK just because. Took me 30 min form start to finish to clean the impeller. I can access every square inch of my skimmer. Now I'm adding a reactor to my skimmer compartment so the added room is good.

 

Sorry for the confusion, powerman understood it best. I meant other skimmers werent easy to clean and werent focused on performance but more convenience. I luv bks, i ordered a mini 160 for my 40 breeder, and a supermarine 300 for my buddys 375. The mini 200 i have is on a 215 gallon at work and doing a great job.
