i cannot believe i was dealing with my old bulb as long as i did,

i bought the fixture used and kept putting off replacing it.

old nuicance bulb (believe it was the original Hamilton 250w bulb) that caused a ton of hair algae from slipping into the red spectrum as you can see.

and the new XM 15k 250w DE bulb i just received from Marinedepot today!

It was a 14K and I have no idea how old it was, the guy said only 6 months but I don't believe him, I had never had a hair algae problem until I switched to it.

I heard good things about the XM bulbs so I went with it. Also though I don't have t5 actinic supplementation though, so I have to rely on my mh to put out some blue but not affect coral growth.

i really think the old bulb slipped in color because the difference in spectrum between the two bulbs is only a 1k but as you can see it doesn't look like it.

It is amazing how much difference there is between and old and new bulb. Looks great.

Love the firefish needing to be in every picture, I have a trigger that does the same thing.

    I see now the difference!

That's cool triggers must be amazing to watch, the firefish won't eat out of my hand like the clown does, but it sure loves being front and center anytime the lights are on
