Tanks been running for 3 months now, I used 1x 150 watt halide unit off ebay, the guy selling it assured me the Boyu bulb was only 2 weeks old, I had the unit time for the halide to be on 7 hrs a day with the 2x t8 moonlight bulbs on a hour before and after, in this time a few corals had been stretching out for more light, mostly zoas and mushrooms, so I moved then higher in the tank, phosphates were 0.025, and glass cleaning was required every five days, I also added a bag of phosban to the sump which reduced phosphates further, nitrates at 0ppm, I was not happy how the tank looked so decided to buy a new bulb to put my mind at ease, been running 2 weeks, corals dont stretch for more light anymore and I now have to clean the glass every 2/3 days, phosphates stillunder 0.025, a good thing though is the coraline algae as really syarted to grow, all over the rocks and powerheads, coincidence after 3 months I dont know, anyway is this what I can expect from a new bulb?

    Thanks in advance

IF you could post some pictures of that tank that'd be nice i guess...we all really want to see that tank of yours and the modifications you made to it..

No modifications have been added to the tank, all I did was to add a new halide bulb to the light unit, which in turn as caused more algae growth, and just wanted to know if this was normal or as a reputable seller sold me a dodgy bulv maybe?

your coralline growth has increased so that's a good thing. Are you wondering if needing to clean the glass every 2-3 days is a lot? Are you getting any more nuisance algae in other places in the tank?

The bulb is from Iaquatics it a cheap option, but from all the positive revies I have been reading I thought I would give it a go, its 150 watt 14k,

Nitrates are at 0ppm tested with jbl test kit,

Before I changed the bulb I was cleaning the glass every 5 days now its 2/3 days, I am battling cyano right now but had put that down to fairly new tank phase
