so i'm new to the site but i've had my two tanks about 5 months now. 1 is a 29g fish only with some really nice live rock. it has..
    1-yellow tang
    1-lawnmower blenny
    1-Clarkii clownfish
    2-ocellarus clownfish
    1-skunk clownfish
    4-green chromis
    1-pajama cardinal
    1-fire goby

yes i know, it's a very heavy bioload.

The 10g is a coral only with the exception of a single cinnamon clownfish w/his BTA
    corals are
    Frogspwan
    pink chalice
blue and red - green button polyp
    green hairy mushroom rock
    green florida ricordia
two really nice pieces of live rock

The live rock in both tanks came with all kinds of goodies...

My new project is a 220g monster mixed reef

Welcome to 3reef. You seem very addicted indeed. I would return all those fish except the 2 clowns and 1 goby IMO.

I counted 12 fish in a 29 gallon. And vinny should be here shortly to talk to you about the tang. lol

    When's that 220 happening?

I hate to be that guy but good grief man........I know you are "addicted" but you need to think about the well-being of the animals you are cramming into a 29 gallon tank. I don't have that much of a bioload in my 120 gallon tank.

Yeah I have 1 fish in my 14 gallon.

If the OP has the 220 ready to go now, then he/she should get that up and going asap.

yep, trust me - i scold my wife every time she brings a fish home. I have to stay on the filter cleaning and water changes very frequently.

The 220 is in the process of being brought into the house (i just finished the stand yesterday). It will be promptly filled and begin cycling.

Whats the deal with the Tang? he seems ok to me.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
As the Tang grows it will need more swimming room. Tangs in the wild travel vast areas over the reef slopes looking for and munching on algae. Fish like clowns and smaller reef fishes stick to their territories often hiding in rock and corals as needed to avoid being eaten. Tangs swim far and wide during the day.

When a tank is so heavily stocked one slip in water quality or even the tiniest bit of stress causes disease to break out. As your fish grow and mature they will need more space or aggression will become a problem.

Since you are in the process of upgrading you seem to have it covered.

    :)

How in the world are all of those clowns working in a 29 gallon?

the 220 is underway and as soon as its good they will get moved. I will keep an eye on the tang.

As for the clowns - i was concerned about the same thing, but amazing the Clarkii is the biggest one and the skunk is the smallest. They tend to stay together. The two O's are (I'm hoping) a male and female pair and they stick together. Everyone seems to get along in harmony except for the fire goby. He hides in the grass under a LR until it's feeding time.

I've done my due diligence on research and have made it very clear to my wife that no more fish are to be introduced until the 220g is up and running unless she wants to loose them all.

Filter cleanings are done about every 2-3 days and water changes every 5. usually 30%.

I'm hoping that with the increased water volume I can back off on some of the constant maintenance i'm having to do.

welcome to 3reef! Sounds like you have some luck in the fish keeping area. I'm impressed as well with that many clowns in one small tank.
