I bought myself an early Christmas present couple weeks ago. It is a Sony Alpha 330 DSLR camera and a macro lens. I have not played around with the different settings, nor the macro lens but thought I would snap some pics of my tank to experiment. I have to learn how to adjust the white settings and play a lot more (and learn to use the macro) but here are a few pics

this is my newest piece....my LFS that I worked at is closed and could not make payroll so I got my last months pay in coral, several chalices
This is my lava chalice...Looks much better then this picture IMO!

I have a watermelon chalice also that I got but I did not get a good pic.
The green did not show up well...the corals were a tad angry because I just dipped them

thanks. One thing I must figure out is the lighting. I have SUCH high light in my tank (4 250 MH and 8 acentics). If I turn them off and use flash then it has reflection, if leave them on then they are whitish color.

I am going to look at teh community college for classes

You have to set a custom white balance. What I do is take a sheet of white pvc plastic and put it in the tank. Then I take a picture of it and use that picture to set my white balance with. Then take pictures w/o flash. There are quite a few online tutorials about what all of the settings on your camera mean and how they work. Do a Google search for "Photography Basics" and you might find some helpful info.

Nice corals, any full tank shots? Also, does that mean that you're no longer working at that fish store?
