After getting my Canister Filter going My skimmer is going nutts. I found on the net that they brand I got has a hard rubber inside and that is the reason I am getting Micro bubbles out of my skimmer.

Anyone have this issue or will it go away in time?

    TIA

if the 305 is anything like it's "big brother" and I bet it is, the reason for the micro bubbles, is dirty media. I posed in another thread. I worked MONTHS to figure it out and finally I got the right person in the company to talk to me.

Basically, the impeller is cavitating (sp?) ie, spinning so fast, but with no enough water flow, it's pulling the oxygen out of the water. now, I am speaking about the FX5, but it's not a seal issue, it's not gaskets etc, it's just dirty media slowing down the water.

now, I would make sure you are sealed tight, no leaks in the "IN" hose etc. but I bet the 305 has the same issue, so check the media. I personally found that when I added the polishing pads ( while they REALLY cleaned the water), I got micro bubbles REALLY fast.

check the media (rinse or replace), let me know if the issue also applies to the 305.

    good luck!

    I have this filter.

I'm not really sure what the correlation between your skimmer going nuts and this filter because I've never notice any affect on my skimmer due to the filter. What I will attest to with this filter spitting out micro bubbles is that it does have something to do with dirty media. Now the problem that is that I've noticed that it doesn't take long before the media gets to this point. Like what makinITwork mentioned and in my experience, things like polishing pads and filter floss will get clogged fast causing this problem. Sometimes adjust the flow lever just right will help.

its not the Canister that is spitting out micro bubbles. Its the skimmer, I have had this skimmer for over 6 months no issues. I setup this filter lastnight and bam microbulbe everywhere. I thought it might have to do with breaking in but, after sleeping on it this morning I got up and thier where still micro bubble in massive amounts coming out of my skimmer.

    TIA

Edit: I found a post on a review stating that Rubber from the housing will cause this because it puts some type of oils into the water. Does anyone know if this will go away?

I have no idea. Sorry. I had a FX5 fluval and never experienced any problems like that.

Sorry man. I got nothing. I've got that same filter and a AquaC skimmer. My skimmer came after the filter and only gave me noticeable micro bubble for the first few days of use. Maybe give it a few days and see what happens.

Hey in regards to the canister micro bubbles am I reading correctly? You guy are saying the burst of bubbles is most likely do to the polishing pad being clogged? I have a marineland c-360 and it does it from time to time. I assume its harmless its just are bubbles! Your remedy is to replace the pad more frequently right?
