I got a new Cherub Angel on Thursday and I've had no luck feeding him. He was at the store for about two months and I watched them feed him mysis shrimp, so I don't think anything is wrong with him.

I've tried mysis and he shows no interest. He has started showing interest in the pellets and will chase them down, but will not try to eat them. He ignored the nori I put in there as well.

I do constantly see him picking at my LR, glass, and sand. My tank is pretty new though, so I really don't have that much for him to graze on yet.

Any suggestions on what to try and feed this guy?

maybe give another couple days he may still be adjusting to tank...also try putting a sheet of nori in there if he is grazing

My fish seem to love Marine Cuisine frozen food, maybe give that a try. If I feed Marine Cuisine and brine shrimp together, they ignore the brine shrimp.

Chasing down the pellets makes it seem that he gets interested by quick moving food...try leaving higher flow on when you feed and maybe try something very tempting, like brine, or brine with spirulina or cyclopeeze.

Also, sometimes angels take to nori if it's rubber banded around a rock - seems a bit more natural than eating off a clip.

And he probably just needs some more time to adjust to the new surroundings!

If given time, it will likely start eating (especially if it was eating in the store). You might try frozen brine shrimp - it is low on nutrition, but tasty for fish. If it starts eating the brine, you can start mixing mysis with brine, and eventually go to just mysis.

As an alternative, I've often had success using Rogger's Reef food. It is frozen, an you put it on a clip for the fish to graze on. I've had bicolour angels and flame angels that wouldn't eat anything else learn to eat with this.

Look at it from the good side though, at least if its grazing it is eating, so there is some positives. Now to get it to take more prepared foods.

I'll try rubber banding the nori to his favorite set of rocks he likes to swim through. I'll try freezing some of the mysis and clipping that too. Thank you for all the suggestions.

Forgot to ask, how long can nori be left rubber banded to a rock before it starts to fall apart?
