Sadly when I was moving my 20L to the 29 I placed my black and white Oc pair in my 40 for temp storage. They were only in there for about 3 days, but managed to stress and kill one of my regular Oc pair (the smaller male) that was already in my 40. I should have known better but I didn't think a couple days would be enough to really have a major impact. Hard lesson learned I guess.

So my question is should I get a new smaller Oc to replace the male I lost or just let it be and move on. The female seemed to be upset for a few days and just hung out in the corner. Now she is swimming all around again. I know we tend to humanize our pets, but is it better keep Oc's in pairs? I just want my fish to be happy.

    TIA everyone.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Mine does fine by her self.

I would be concerned though if you decide to change your mind in the future and add a younger clown. I have found it harder to introduce new immature clowns to a well established older female.

A lone clown can be just as happy, but your are right after my male jumped it took my female weeks to get over it (older pair). Attributing human traits to animals is common but I know my female was what we humans called depressed.

    Thanks Coralline

Yeah I'm pretty sure she's a little upset. I sometimes see her doing the clown dance by the glass. I assume she's doing it with her reflection. They were together for about 5-6 months. I'll give it a few more days and see how it goes. I may try to find her a new mate next week....
