New Clown Pairs, Kinda mixed cool

Well I got some new clowns yesterday. I needed to find another male to go with my large female ocellaris, so I got a nice little purcula, lol. Ive heard this can be done so I thought I would give it a go. Ive never had a purc before so went for it. The little guy is doing great. Well better than I thought. I let them get the new fish anger out for a little bit by leaving the purc in the bag for like a hour ( I did put new water in the bag a few times dont worry ). When I took it out they did the spasim think right off the bat, and seem to hit things off really good. They were in the same nesting area last night, and are not fighting to bad today. LOL, better than she did with an ocellaris, . Im not sure how much black the purcs have, but I think this guys mite turn onyx, Ill just have to wait for him to mature...

In the other tank, I got my first fish for the 100 gallon. It has been like 2 1/2 weeks and the cycle finaly stopped. I went from none to a big one, so im glade its over. I went all out and got another pair of clowns. The large ( like 3-4 inches ) female tomato, and a small ( like 1-2 inches) male that almost looks like a cinnamon. I was kinda worried because ive never had tomato's or tried to pair them, but amazingly they too like each other very good. Better than the ocellaris and the purc. Within an hour the two were good to go. There was very little chasing. Im thinking the huge size difference made the difference. I just wish they would have chose a better spot to nest. They are behinde a rock, and only come out to eat, or just to see what im doing. I guess ill see what they do in the future, I hope they get more friendly. I took some pics, but it is so hard to get the clowns to be still. Even with my new camera, it is had to tell, lol. Oh well they will get their pic taken again and hopfully it will be better,

Way to go Birchell. I have been wanting to pair mine up too but I have a coral package coming from Drs Forster & Smith this tuesday so I thought I had better wait instead of getting them all stressed out. I have a false persula and will be pairing it up soon. Glad to see you have a new member of the family and the new tank has some action in it finally.

 

thanks, when you get the new clown make sure it is smaller than you one u have. Yours will turn into a female in around a month with out another clown. So if you get a small one youll know there is no chance that it will be a female, and they will pair up a whole lot faster!!! Good luck, and post some pics of the new coral pack. Ive thought of getting one from foster and smith, just was kinda scared not seeing what I get,

Been doing a lot of research here lately on pairing the clowns and a buddy I work with just paired his about 2 weeks ago with a smaller one and things are going good. I went in with another guy from work and split the shipping on the coral so it didn't cost so much. Funny you should say that, been watching ebay for a 180 to 250 gal range but will go bigger if the price is right. My wife will chit! lol

Yea I like that site. Ive got all my lights, and pumps, food, ect... from them. The worst part of a big tank though, is the lighting!!! Im having a hell of a time finding a nice 60" light system, even a retro lol. I thinking of just doing MH pendents .

 

I have been to Premium Aquatic when they open to the public on saturday and they have a bunch of DIY MH fixtures that would go good in your tank. Hang two maybe three and there won't be anything you couldn't grow.
