..and btw..it ain't that bad(recoil)..50 may be pushing it..you should have it zeroed or close enough in 20 rounds...but I never target this further than 25/30 feet...no need. imo : )

yeah kinda guessing the short barreled wheel guns aren't for down range shooting.

SP 101? Had one but with different grips. With 357 you know you're shooting something but it's not that bad. I'm pretty sure that gun came hammerless too and would make a better CC.

Of course it would, its a 357 verse a 38 special. But mine weighs under a pound and fits in any pocket I have no worries. I have 2 other guns with many more bullets in each that are better too! Gotta weigh your options!

Just to add the 2 cents of a combat vet you must consider "Stopping Power". I think it would be pretty safe to say that most "Hostle" persons you would encounter are not in their right mind and just might be very high on something that would prevent them from feeling any pain. Even the military has been having second thoughts about the 9mm and ball ammo. I've used the 45 acp with military ball ammo in combat and it's a bit unsettling to place 3 rounds in the chest area and have them still coming at you. I will only use a 45 acp with some sort of expanding point for added stopping power. Here's hoping you never need to use deadly force to protect you and yours but be prepaired.

WEll, first off, THANKS for your service and having to do that! God bless ya! And yeah, in a different area, I'd def be more concerned and carry heavier. I have very expensive critical defense aim for all my guns when carrying, and yes, I'd prefer to always carry my .40, hell, I'd prefer to carry a .50, but there are times they just aren't viable for me. I figure anything is better than nothing, and I got the bare minimum I feel comfortable with. But I pray I never have to see what you have. Once again, God bless ya.

So after shooting my new 38 special and 40 and a block 9 and a cc kimber 9mm special and going through another tactical conceal carry class and reading up on it, here's my thoughts!

shooting while holding your gun to your chest feels odd
shooting an SW airweight 38 special is an amazing pocket gun that weighes less than a pound but accuracy is iffy!
I now love lasers for what they provide while shooting from your chest or armpit!

And heres where ya can all argue! Calibers from 38 to 9 to 40 to 45 with the right critical defense ammo have about the same stopping power in 99% of the situations! NRA lists that 99% of concealed carry firings happen within 3 yards, under 3 seconds, and under 3 shots fired! At 99% that means that almost any handgun over a 22 would suffice with the right ammo and that it comes down to your training, and ultimately your willingness to carry the gun! So get what feels right to you, what is fun to shoot, and is most of all comfortable to carry!

Exactly. Thanks for proving my point about 9 mm and even the 380acp and even the 25. Proper ammo is key though.

Your facts are pretty accurate, but. I hope your book reading and classes can prepare you for that moment when you will forget everything you learned and have to deal with instinct alone. You'll fire as soon as you can and pray you can hit the target and stop it. You want a test? Have a friend walk behind you with a metal trash can in a very dark area where you can shoot. have them toss the can to your right or left and see how long it takes you to draw and how many shots it takes to hit it. You'll gain a greater love for a near hit with a stopping power round.

    I agree as well,one reason I brag about my sterling .25,not expensive,easy to carry,comfortable,hollowpoints. ;)

I understand stopping power, but one thing I know is if I was the one being shot at,I wouldn't be worried as to what caliber it was as i'd be to worried running for cover, lol.Close range though,a .25 can do some damage as well.

But thats my personal handgun chioce,I still have a few big dogs (hunting guns) with stocked ammo for all for when or if it does hit the fan.
