Got this (acro?) on friday. Running it under a 120w tao tronics led(18 inches above water). does it look healthy? When it was at the store it seemed to be all fuzzy. but now not as much. The light is on about 20 or 30 percent power. How is the lighting? how often should i turn it up to acclimate? comments

Actually that is a Birds Nest.

I can not comment as to the lighting.

Typically you do not need to turn corals, the placement should be such that the frag receives sufficient or approximately the same amount light to all sides.

Areas shaded or not receiving enough light will often be pale in coloration. This is not really a bad thing as it's very hard to provide equal illumination to all areas of the coral.

Agree with the ID, looks like a birdsnest to me and I see polyp extention which is a good thing and a sign of a healthy coral

I dont mean turn the coral I mean turn up the dimmer on the light. Because right now it is lower than usuall to acclimate the coral

Ahhh sorry dyslexia got the better of me again.

Perhaps edit the title of the thread " Acclimation of SPS with LED's" or " Dimming LED to acclimate SPS".

The corals has been ID'd so you're good there.

While I do not have LED's I would be interested in that information.

    :)

Thats pretty high above the tank and at pretty low percentage. What size is the tank?

You should be pretty safe at least at 50%, then I'd bump it up 5-10% a week depending on the lighting in the store.

It's best to compare if it's growing or receding over time. You can usually see some growth or encrusting on a birdsnest in 1 week.
