I just bought this coral today. Now, I've been wanting another frogspawn for a while since my last one died in a tank mishap. I went there to trade some frags in, so I got this. I saw it and asked how much for the frogspawn, the employee said that it wasn't a frogspawn but an "Octocoral." I said are you sure, everything makes it seem like it is a branching frogspawn. He said yea, that it was actually a type of soft coral called an octocoral, presumably for having 8 tentacles, which this one clearly has more. He said there are a few soft corals that actually make a skeleton, this is true. I had my doubts and thought it was a frogspawn myself and I bought it thinking it was a frogspawn. It has about 5 heads, one is half way done splitting and each head has a mouth. If you google "octocoral" you will see what they look like, nothing like this. So basically I just wanted to see what you guys thought, maybe confirm my theory or not.

Weird. Never heard of it. Cool find though! You can tell it's definitely not a frogspawn.

Octopus coral is another name for frogspawn.

It looks more like a frogspawn to me than a torch/hammer. I believe they can mix it up between different species also.

Maybe that's what he meant. But he still said it was a soft coral, I think he either made a mistake or just wasn't sure what he was talking about.

+ 1, and it is definitely not an octocoral... Looks like a really cool mutation between 2 different euphyllia's.
