Ecoxotic is adding a new Cannon LED lamp to their lineup that has been designed with a wide angle reflector to diffuse the light more for rectangular aquariums. The one shown has the same 50w Edistar multi-chip LED that nearly blinded me at BAYMAC. And shortly following, there will be a 100 watt version as well. I will definitely approach that one with caution.

LEDs look like the way to go but how often do they need to be replaced? I'm just worried about replacement cost on something like this.

If you buy a fixture...it seems like 8 years or so, you'll have to replace the whole thing. If you DIY with something like the CREEs, then just the lights that change/go out every 8-11 years.

It seems like every few days another new or different LED of some sort makes the 3reef front page. At this rate of innovation, in a few years or less we should have something real nice that answers MH and T5's full spectrum. Competition is great because it makes everyone better.
