I've been scouting the past couple of months and fell in love with the elegance coral. I wasn't planning on buying anything when I went to my LFS but they had two in there and I just couldn't resist! When I got it home last night it was fantastic, opened up nicely and was waving in the flow.

I am currently at work so not much I can do til I get home but my lady said it's not as open as last night. I felt the flow could have been a little harsh as one side was being pushed to another and I also have it smack dab in the middle of my sand bed. Can anyone give me a description of what it should look like visually (i.e. should the tentacles be more wavy and free flowing than what it is currently) and is it possible to have too much light?

They like slower flow and lower light

just make sure it tentacles are stubby like saintsfan's and not expanded and "reaching for the light".

I agree with the flow. They can handle any light though, if acclimated correctly. Really they are happy under a very wide range of lights, ranging from PCs to 400W MHs. I think before ECS was identified, a lot of myths popped up regarding elegance corals.

Yeah mine didn't look like that when I left. I'll move him around when I get home...
