Does any one know anything about the new Needle Wheel skimmer from Coralife (ESU) called the Super Skimmer.  It looks similar in design to the Turbofloater 1000 and is rated at 220g tank size for only $169 at
www.thatfishplace.com,  there are smaller sizes as well.
Its for in sump and HOT use.  Some feed back would be appreciated since no one knew anything about the nautilus TE skimmer from kent marine on my last post. Thanks!

I was kinda wondering too. Great price, and it has the high gate I need for my sump. In case I ever get sick of the Seaclone.

i am sorry i did see your post on the nautilus skimmer. the nautilus skimmer in my humble opinion is not a very good skimmer. the new coralife skimmer however i am not sure about because it is so new, i am thinking about picking 1 up when i am in penn. in april. 2 skimmers i can tell you about are the red sea berlin and the won cleanup.(i have either tried or bought just about every skimmer there is) the red sea berlin is a very good decent priced skimmer, just remember to over pump it, if you under pump it it does not work very well, and the small venturi gets clogged uo rather easily. over pumping the red sea makes it work like a moose and keeps the venturi clean. the won is a new skimmer on the market, it uses a downdraft type configuration along with a huge 3/8 inch venturi, the only drawback of the won is it is a little loud because of the big venturi, and it is completely dependent on sump level so the sump level mu ne kept constant. there are other skimmers that are more efficient, but they cost quite a bit more money.

I personally would recommend staying away from this skimmers and any of the others that look like it such as the Pacific Caost versions. We had ordered the Pacific Coast ones last year sometime and were completely unimpressed to say the least with the build, design, and effectiveness and these seem to be the same skimmers with some slight mods. The Pacific Coast hang on models for instance could not even hangon a standard aquarium cause the hanging bracket was not wide enough and they made it supposedly to hangon a acrylic sump supposedly is why.

Thanks for the info. They do look the same as the pacific coast skimmers. I'm suprised because coralife products are usually made well. My LFS just got in the super skimmer and pulled it out of the box for me. It seems well made but I'd like to see one running.

Thanks for the review, keep us posted on how well it works. I may be upgrading to a larger skimmer and have had my eye on this skimmer.
