hello everyone i have a fast question before you post.

I have a all in one filter right now for my saltwater filter.
skimmer, pump, 700g,and bioballs and think is about it.

I'm looking for fix up my fish tank, but idk if i should just keep the one i have and deal with it, or get a new filter.

and if i were to get a new filter, i will not get a all in one filter, i would like one that has two socks, like the ones you see in a 500g tank, and i think bioballs is something i would like to use.
does anyone have anything in mind, that does not cost more then 300 dollars for a 72g tank?

sorry if you have a hard time reading this.

what do you guys think of this

it is a little more then what i want to spend but i like the set up

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
So currently you have a Canister filter?

You will be able to build a sump for much less than 300 dollars.

What type of skimmer do you have?

Sounds more like an all in one wet/dry filter,if so you can switch it to a more productive sump by slowly, meaning a small portion at a time, replacing the bio balls with rubble rock.Rubble has alot more surface area for denitrification than bio balls.

ya i have seen people doing that with my filter, add sand and live rock i could do that, but why do that if i have bio balls, why is a sump better then bio balls.

    It's ok.
In a sump you can place Macro algae, a sand bed, you can put it on a reverse lighting schedule to maintain a more consistent pH 24/7.

You can increase the volume of water in the system over all.

Placement of dosing pumps or ATO, upgrade with a better skimmer.

A sump gives you tons of options. If you want bio-balls fine but remember to not go over board, detritus will collect within them over time.

Wet/Drys are great and can provide excellent filtration, a home made sump gives you more options though.
