    Mine actually stayed out more when I first got him, he hides a lot now. I thought for sure my brittle star got him. I didn't see him for 2 days, then out of the blue there he was swimming around. I don't have a lid either and mine has not jumped yet.

    You might see it when you feed the tank. I don't see mine most of the time until I feed.

    Nice fish, hopefully hes ok. I just got a firefish about 3 weeks ago and he is just starting to stay out when I walk into the livingroom. He used to dart under the rocks and wouldnt come out for days. Now he stays out and I get to make sure he is eating. Quickly became one of my favorite fish. Here is my firefish, my daughter named him "Freddy"
