I was done adding fish but couldn't resist getting a African Leopard Wrasse. I new it would be risky but gave it a try.I thought it was dead since I haven't seen it since I added him 2 wks ago and 2 days ago he came out . My 6 line Wrasse chases and nips at him until he goes back to hiddeing:angry:. The blue hippo tang gets a few shots in as well.
I was wondering if there is anything I can do that may help them get along with one another. I read that changing the surrounding will help but I dont have much I can move around only option is to add LR but before I did this wanted see is it worth buying LR or is there some other things to try or am I s.o.l and should just try to get him out of there if I can.

Gazbo, I honestly dont know, but I couldnt sit on site and ignore this post

    here are my thoughts
I think the Hippo would come around and leave the new guy alone

Im not sure the 6 line will ever accept the new guy on its turf (I hope I am wrong)
hiding for long periods will affect the new guys ability to feed and also the stress may make him susceptible to parasitic infection

adding new decor may work, again I dont know enough about the interspecies fight tendencies of the fish in question

removing the new guy seems like a smart idea

removing the old guy and keeping him in isolation in a guppy fry trap suspended in DT until the new guy settles in, finds his own niche and stands his corner in future confrontations is something I have done on a few occasions with varying success , but again I dont know if this would work with the species involved and in my case its always been with fish of different species and they work it out when the old guy goes back home

hope it works out for you

I will definetly try anything. Is there any tricks to catching fish, the 6 line so fast that I dont think that I would be able to catch him even if I wanted to. I have alot of corals and LR to work around.

quickest method for me has always been hook and line with small bait

use barbless hooks as they cause less damage and a small piece of prawn as wrasse have tiny mouths - my PB using this method has been a banana wrasse of 4cm again small mouthed so its possible

That works for a while until they re-establish territories, then start crossing boundaries again... in my experience that is.

No. serious this time - a hook and line is used by many in reef tanks to extract fish without destroying rockwork

here is the reason for my suggestion
most peoples favourite fish in a tank is the one they just purchased
true after the novelty of the new purchase wears off, the previous favourite sometimes once again becomes the favourite

the leapord wrasse is hiding, so would be hard to catch
the 6 line is out and about so should be easy to get to take a bait
once the 6 line is seperated, the leapord can come out and relax

and Gazbo can then make a choice - take the 6 line back or catch the leapord (but that wont be easy until its out in the open more)
